Nancy Update

Nancy is doing good.  She is still in the hospital but they have moved her to another room and she has a room mate so she is not alone.  There had been reports of a foxhound found on sat, however this was not true, however there is good news there was a live foxhound found and rescued and airlifted out with Nancy.  Nancy just didn't remember it.  It was found in her front yard buried up to his neck in  mud.  He has been vetted and is doing fine and is staying with a close friend of Nancy's and mine Sarah Ann.  She is also keeping the puppies.  Sarah Ann is a Dalmatian Breeder from Washington State and she also owns a foxhound from Nancy.  So the puppies are in good hands.  On a sad note...... Sarah Ann went to Nancy's house on sat and found 7 dogs that had died in the house and 8 that had died in the kennel.  There are few more unaccounted for but at this time we all feel that they too have perished.  Please keep Nancy in your prayers.

Attached are the photos of the puppies.

By now most of you, in the foxhound club, have heard of the horrific ordeal that has befallen one of our dear friends, foxhound breeder, and club member, Nancy Punches.  For those of you that have not I will bring you up to speed.  Nancy, who is in her late seventies, was in her home Monday, in Chehalis, WA, when after heavy rains the long road dike failed and flooded her home.  In a matter of minuets she found herself in a serious situation.  She grabbed a Styrofoam ice chest and placed her 4 or 5 four week old puppies in it and by that time the water in her house was waist deep.    Nancy climbed up onto her kitchen cabinets and that is where she remained all through out the long night and most of the day Tuesday.  The water at its highest was 10 inches from her ceiling.  She saved those puppies by floating them in that ice chest, and in turn those puppies are what saved her from giving up.   Nancy was rescued late Tuesday afternoon after the water had receded to knee deep.  Mother spoke to Nancy this morning; she is in the hospital with frostbite, having spent many hours in cold river water. Tragically, she had her most beloved dogs in the house, and they all drowned in front of her. Two dogs escaped the kennel and one dog, incredibly, survived in her run.  All others perished, approximately 30 dogs in all.  I understand her former husband and son and the neighbor are going today to remove the bodies of the dead dogs and take stock.

Nancy has lost every thing.  There are two ways in which to donate.  One is by going to www.paypal.com and selecting send money button and following the directions you can donate by credit card.  You DO NOT have to be a PayPal member!!!!     When it asks who to send it to, type nancypunchesfund@earthlink.net .  The other way to donate is to send a check to

Morton Hospital

c/o Medical Lab

P.O. Box 3

Morton, WA 98352

This is where Nancy works, and the girls who she works with there have agreed to take mail and donations there for Nancy.  Also if you would like to donate clothing, {this is a guess, Nancy probably wears a size large, 10-12, don't know shoe size}, you can also send these types of items to the Morton Hospital address.

Thanks in advance for all your help.   And please keep Nancy in your prayers.
